In his artistic representations, Howard Post is continually inspired by his experiences from living in the American West. A third-generation Arizonan, Post utilizes traditional Western themes in his paintings based on what he knows: ranching and the rodeo. Over his 30-year career, he has become one of the foremost contemporary Western painters of the twenty-first century, concentrating on images of cowboys, corrals, horses, livestock, and wide pastures using his own signature style and array of colors. Post’s strong lighting, deep shadows, abstract patterns, and aerial viewpoints present a modern perspective of Western life and environments.
